The starfish story is the example that I use.  Everybody doing a little - can add up to a lot. "One day, an old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.
Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing. Without looking up from his task, the boy simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish, Sir”.
The old man chuckled aloud, “Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?”
The boy picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”"

Went to the city market today. There are lots of fresh options not in plastic. But also a lot of things in plastic. Definitely still a work in progress to not create plastic waste.

I've been cooking my own meals and reducing the straws I use.  I have on straw at work, i sanitize it and use it repeatedly.

Today I tried making tortillas since I use them a lot for breakfast and all the store-bought ones are wrapped in plastic. I was surprised at how easy the were to make! Jon even said he'd like to help make bread next time I have a baking day! I'm glad he's embracing the lifestyle changes we're trying to implement.

I had a serious craving for Quick Trip taquitos yesterday. I just wrapped them up in a napkin instead of grabbing a plastic to-go bag. The clerk seemed a little perplexed but let me buy them without a wrapper so that was nice, lol.

Third week in a row buying groceries at sprouts without taking plastic home. I still have some things in the house that are in plastic but hopefully can slowly fade those out.

This has been a great challenge!  I love the level of awareness it has brought to my daily actions.
