I have gotten better about taking a bag into every store.  It is amazing how much my purse can hold.  The real challenge for me is buying prepackaged goods that are sealed in plastic, ex: a paper cutter/trimmer.   The second challenge is buying only what I need - putting back items after careful consideration of trying to justify its purpose

Usually I carry around a water bottle with an attached straw but I have no trouble using paper straws if necessary.  I keep them in my bag.

It gets easier everyday- you just have to stick to it!

The dog poo compost experiment officially started today. I had to dig a four foot deep hole under the tank. Since the entire contraption hasn’t dropped to the bottom, I’m counting it a success.

It's farmers' market night in my neighborhood.  There's always good grazing there.

I’m going for it. I’ll be installing a septic-style pit to compost my dogs’ poo in the backyard.

My household is big into composting. We use our compost in our large garden where we produce almost all of the fresh fruits and vegetables we need for ourselves, and our two birds. We also hunt turkey, quail, dove and deer so we never purchase meat. We purchase chicken and eggs from our friends small rural farm. In doing this, there is no plastic packaging involved!

I pick up waste when I walk my dogs twice daily and recycle ALL possible items.  In doing so, my trash container is small and hardly has any material for the landfill.  However, my recycle container (96 gal) is filled weekly, and we use a yard waste container to transfer our yard waste to a composting area.
