Fantastic Deplastics

Really trying to produce zero-waste meals but sometimes that single-use plastic sneaks in when I don't expect it. Like loaves of bread coming in plastic and heads of lettuce. I'm going to push myself to go to the Farmers Market or go to the counters for meats, cheeses, etc.

I am really loving the "naked bins" challenge it is so easy to take my indoor trash cans out and dump them in the larger bin. It really makes me feel like I am having an impact on how much plastic ends up in our dumps. 

Brought just the right amount of reusable bags to the grocery store last night! Typically I'm one short and need to get a paper bag, but I packed up the reusable bag just right!

What do you do when you ask for no straw and the waiter gives you one anyway? A. As loud as you can scream "STRAAAAAAAWWWWWWW" B. Politely explain how their establishment is killing the oceans and all life inhabiting it. C. Mope silently about how you're not good enough for plastic free July's standards.

I made the switch to bars of soap, it will be an adjustment but it will be worth it!

Used my silicone ziplock bags for lunch yesterday and it did a great job of keeping my food fresh!
