BACK TO TEAM PAGE
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Sarah Smith 8/01/2018 2:04 PMIt's August 1 and I am already missing my happy little checklist of actions that cheered me on when I clicked them. :D -
Deanna Snell 8/01/2018 7:21 AMThank you to everyone who participated in this challenge and to all the zoos and aquariums who said yes and put money up front, sight unseen, to this platform when Columbus Zoo and Calgary Zoo approached your organizations and asked if you wanted to join us in a community effort. A special shout out to Krystina Jarvis at Columbus Zoo who found this platform and did most of the asking:-).
Awesome job everyone! I've been inspired and learned a lot--the feed was one of my favourite features of this platform plus seeing our communal impact. I hope you learned something, were inspired, and will continue to reduce your single-use plastic throughout the year.
See you for Plastic Free July 2019!! -
Malu Celli 7/31/2018 10:39 PMLast day. Wish i had done more but I'm a little bit wiser at least and hope everyone is too. Because a tide that is strong can lift all the boats - even the very heavy ones!! -
Typhenn Brichieri-Colombi 7/31/2018 9:58 PMFinished my last plastic free challenge! I have to promote the home-made cleaner, super easy to use and SUPER effective!!! I think the most helpful part of plastic free July is all the amazing posts that people have shared. Thank you!!! -

Millie Coleing 7/31/2018 8:55 PMSo I finished my garbage inventory today and have concluded that the worst offenders of plastic that I have found hard to reduce are plastic bread ties (I wrote to the supermarket), cereal bar wrappers (I have found a place that they can be recycled though), plastic seals on jars with plastic lids and parcel packaging. This challenge has been great - I thought I was already quite aware of single-use plastic but I have learnt a few more ways of reducing my impact this month :)-
Sarah Smith 8/01/2018 7:40 AMPlease share your wrapper recycling info! That's one of the hardest to eliminate in our household, too! -
Millie Coleing 8/01/2018 10:14 AMI emailed Clif Bar customer services about this and found that they run a recycling program for their wrappers through Terracycle - https://www.terracycle.com/en-US/brigades/clifbar. They take wrappers from other brands too. I have been saving my wrappers and have not found a drop off point locally yet though. They pay for the wrappers in credits for non-profit organisations. This could be a great way for zoos to fundraise and reduce the plastic wrapper waste!
