I’m super bummed that I didn’t get to make my own deodorant by the end of July, but thanks to some tips and recipes found here on this feed, I will make it soon. Thanks everyone!

High five to Ed, Nora and Rachel for doing some community clean up around the zoo, Franklin Park and Scarborough Pond. There’s sooo much more to do so we should schedule another! Plastic free August!

Today is the last day. I’m so proud of our team. We really kicked some plastic butt. I’m super psyched about getting so many people thinking more about plastic and very humbled by the amount of interest and support from coworkers, friends, family and strangers!  I hope that everyone had a similar experience and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with all of you and more!  Plastic free for a better earth!

Ran out of coffee this morning so I had to stop. BUT I brought my own straw and I talked to the  counter staff about plastic free July!  I also rinsed out my plastic cup so I can reuse it a couple times before recycling.

I was so frustrated last night when I went to one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants and they brought water with straws a second after we sat down.  I had no time to refuse!  They were having a technology melt down last night so I didn't talk to them about their straws AND Styrofoam to-go containers, but next time I'm going to be ready to refuse the straw at the door!  And I'm going to bring my own to-go container and tell them all about it!

I AM SO PROUD OF OUR TEAM! Keep it up guys, we are really making a difference!

I have a hot tip for those of you who like sparkling water!  Instead of buying cans or plastic bottles, look into a Sodastream or similar product.  You buy reusable bottles (special to hold the pressure) and C02 refills.  You can make your own sparkling water in about 10 seconds and flavor it however you want.   They make flavors (even soda ones)  BUT you can also just flavor it with a squeeze of lemon/lime/orange or a splash of juice!  I love mine!  *don't mind my messy desk!

I’m sick, so I took this opportunity to meet my  Plastic Free July documentary challenge.  I didn’t quite meet it quite yet because I was alone, but “A Plastic Ocean” was worth watching even though I feel sicker in a different way now.  I recommend it.  Anyone have anymore recommendations? I’m stuck at home feeling crappy and not able to achieve my challenges. Hope everyone’s crushing it!

I recently went to a screening of "Blue" - not sure if it's widely available yet, but if it is, I would highly recommend it.

If it's still on Netflix you should watch Turtle: The Incredible Journey! Not totally plastic focus but it follows a turtle across the ocean that does have a run-in with plastic in the ocean... :(
